Signing up For Google ![]()
For now we'll assume that you only want to put advertisements on YOUR website so we choose Google Adsense. You'll need to provide your Blog or an adsense web site address (just like http://www.mywebsite.com but with your website address instead of mysite.com) There are a number of other monetary choices you have to make including whether you want to allow other people to take adsense money ads on your website (these are NOT the regular little google ads we know and love - but bigger banner and larger ads - you don't get a pay per click on these ads but you are paid on the number of times they are shown - at so much per thousand) I suggest that to start with you click no and just take the regular ads till you are more experienced. Read up as many adsense tips from people like the rich jerk and joel comm as you can and visit adsense forums .You'll also need to give Google information about other websites you have, your full name (must be a real name - they DO check) and full address with zip code and phone number. They'll also need your email address - don't use a free e-mail like Yahoo or Hotmail or any other free service for this - it's not very professional - and you need to get your details without losing your account through inactivity or something else. This is so that they can pay you (and we DO want that ... oh so much we do !) - If you like you can also sign up for Adwords this is similar but you'll need a credit card to lodge some money in your Adwords account. (Adwords is similar but for taking ads on other peoples websites) ![]() Grab a pencil and we'll begin (oh some paper would be good too) Only put Google Ads on FRESH ORIGINAL CONTENT - Google likes this and their spiders gobble it up like fresh food.
There's a terrible temptation to go out and buy 100 Adsenseready sites - please restrain yourself -that's for later. They do need work before you use them. You will be able to concentrate on providing good and quality content, as the search engines will be the ones finding the best ads in which to put your pages on. Google thinks it's REALLY naughty to put on ads for your affiliate links that look like Google Ads - so don't do it or you'll lose your Google account. You can HAVE affiliate links on the same page as long as they don't get confused with Googles Links. One of the Adsense eBooks suggests otherwise but I think he is really sailing close to the wind and could well lose his account with some of the things he does. You'll notice ads in the left hand colum for BOOKS - I recommend these as being good ones ..whatever level you are at. Some are absolute bargains (Joel Comms book is indispensable -check out the adsensecode special offer through this website !) One of the things you can do, however, is to utilize Google's custom palette to customize your Google ads, making them to appear a part of the web page itself. The idea here is to match background and links to match the theme of your site. People on the internet today are trained to click on a link that is blue, and if your Google ads have the same theme as your web page, it makes the Google ads appear to be a portion of your "content." This is a VERY smart thing to do. In later pages I'll show you examples of what to do.! You can also filter up to 200 URLs. This gives you a chance to block ads for the sites that do not meet your guidelines, and also block competitors. Remember that it is unavoidable that Adsense may be competing for some space on web sites that all other revenues are sharing. Owners of small sites are allowed to plug a bit of a code into their sites and instantly have relevant text ads that appeal to your visitors appear instantly on your pages. If you own many sites, you only need to apply once. Then ,you are issued a unique "publisher ID", which can be used on any site you currently own. A small snippet of Javascript is placed on your site in the location you wish the ads to appear in, and generally speaking, the ads from Google will appear in minutes. Make sure yu copy ALL of the code from Google's site or the Adsense won't work. This ends the hassle of having to apply to many affiliate programs, and keeping track of many different URL's and user ID's and passwords. You can customise Google ads easily , and these can be placed anywhere on your pages, you can experiment with placement, colors, and themes. One of the Favourite tricks is to add images in conjunction with your Google ads to make them more noticeable.Other tactics are to camouflage the Google ads so they look like text or to make them so bright that they scream out at you.I'll show you these later. To succeed use a large rectangle Most beginners use the Leaderboard (728x90) or Wide Skyscraper (160x600) style ads. We've all got so used to seeing these formats that they now scream ADVERT at us and we ignore them. The big Box (336x280) yields the best amount of click-throughs. The payment rates can vary extremely. The payment you will be receiving per click depends on how much advertisers are paying per click to advertise with the use of the AdWords. Advertisers can pay as little as 5 or 10 cents and as high as $10-12, sometimes even more than that too. Some US lawyers are currently paying as high as $100 for advertising the keyword mesothelioma! And you, as the ad publisher, are earning a share of that money generated. There are problems with high paying adsense and I'll talk about that later too - don't bother going after mesothelioma - 2 million people are in the line ahead of you !You don't always get the MAXIMUM bid - sometimes the second bid may only be 10 cents ! You really have to get people to click your ads but only by Fair methods.Google is very helpful and even has an Adsense Blog on Blogspot.com.They have many tutorials, including a "heat chart" which shows you where your best placement for ads is. You will need an account to access these tutorials. It is still wise to look at other peoples information and format your Adsense in a similar manner. A wise old business axiom is to "find a good business model, then copy it." Let others do the hard work for you, and learn from a successful site. Just think about it as doing yourself a favor by not having to work too hard to know what content to have. Go to sites that have high page rank, and carefully observe their layouts, their content, and placement of their ads. A little time spent doing research can put dollars in your pocket down the road. It is important to note that you cannot choose certain topics only. If you do this, search engines will not place Adsense ads on your site and you will be missing out a great opportunity in making hundreds and even thousands of dollars cash. Do NOT try to put ads on sites about gambling, firearms, ammunition, tobacco or drugs. It's forbidden by Googles Terms of Service.(Even so I've seen gambling adsense sites offered for sale - don't bother !). This page will get you off the ground. Little compares with the thrill of that first Google adclick on your daily report. You'll like it and it can get quite entrancing. |
